Paul Rubin, MD
President and Chief Executive Officer
Paul received his MD from Rush Medical College, Chicago, IL. Prior to joining the Resolvyx management team in January, 2007, Paul most recently served as President and CEO of Critical Therapeutics. His extensive career in the pharmaceutical industry also includes serving as Executive Vice President of Research and Discovery at Sepracor, Vice President of Clinical Research at Glaxo, Inc. and Vice President of Immunology at Abbott Labs. Paul brings not only his extensive research and development expertise to Resolvyx, but also his experience with starting and growing both private and public biotech companies.
Per Gjorstrup, MD PhD
Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer
Per Gjorstrup received his MD and PhD in physiology from the University of Lund, Sweden, where he was associate professor of physiology before joining industry. He brings over 25 years of experience in research and development with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, most recently as Chief Medical Officer at Micromet, Munich, Germany. Earlier industry positions include Section Leader Pharmacology at Astra (Astra-Zeneca). He later held positions as Head of Immunotherapeutics at Pharmacia, Sweden; senior director for clinical development at Biogen. He has served as advisor to VC groups and start-up companies and has published extensively in leading scientific journals.
James Nichols, PhD
Executive Vice President of Corporate Development
Jamie Nichols graduated from Columbia University and earned his Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania. He was subsequently a Helen Hay Whitney Postdoctoral Fellow in neurobiology at Stanford University. Prior to joining the Resolvyx team in August, 2007, Dr. Nichols was vice president of therapeutics at CombinatoRx, Inc. In that role, he oversaw multiple R&D programs from discovery through phase II development across a range of therapeutic areas including inflammation, metabolic disease, dermatology, and ophthalmology. Previously, Dr. Nichols was a consultant at Braun Consulting, a healthcare- focused consulting firm (now acquired by Fair Isaac), where he advised senior executives in the biopharmaceutical industry on commercialization and development strategy.
Lijun Wu, PhD
Vice President of Discovery Research
Lijun Wu received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University and did a postdoc fellowship in Johns Hopkins University Medical School. Prior to joining Resolvyx in May 2006, she was the Executive Director of Atherosclerosis in Cardiovascular Research, Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research. Before that she was at LeukoSite (acquired by Millennium) and Millennium Pharmaceuticals where she held the position as Director, Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology. She has 5 patent awards and more than 60 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious scientific journals.
C. Eric Schwartz, PhD
Vice President of Chemistry
Eric Schwartz joined the Resolvyx management team as Senior Director for Medicinal Chemistry in February 2006. He started his medicinal chemistry career at Eisai Research Institute and then held positions as Director of Medicinal Chemistry at UCB Pharma's drug discovery group in Cambridge, MA and as Associate Director in Chemistry at Biogen Idec. He received his Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and followed this with a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.
